Study investigates differences in gene expression in five regions (nucleus accumbens, amygdale, frontal cortex, caudate putamen, and hippocampus) of the CNS of inbred alcohol-preferring (iP) and non-alcohol preferring (iNP) rats. This gene set contains 48 upregulated genes in at least one of the five brain regions studied.
This gene set contains 76 genes differentially expressed in at least one of five CNS brain regions (nucleus accumbens, amygdale, frontal cortex, caudate putamen, and hippocampus). These genes are expressed to a greater extent in non-alcohol preferring (iNP) rats than in inbred alcohol-preferring (iP) rats. Background: Study investigates differences in gene expression in five regions of the CNS of iP rats and iNP rats using microarray gene expression profiling.
High-density filter-based cDNA microarrays were used to assess differential expression of genes in the dorsal hippocampus of rats treated with 12% ethanol or tap water for 15 months. Following treatment, an analysis of ethanol-treated versus control rats was done. These are genes that were downregulated during the chronic ethanol treatment.
QTL for nicotine sensitivity on Chr13 at D13Mit218 (22.75 Mbp , Build 37)
Description:
nicotine sensitivity spans 0.00 - 47.75 Mbp (NCBI Build 37) on Chr13. This interval was obtained by using an interval width of 25 Mbp around the peak marker (Build 37, MGI, http://informatics.jax.org).
QTL for nicotine sensitivity on Chr13 at D13Mit59 (37.58 Mbp , Build 37)
Description:
nicotine sensitivity spans 12.58 - 62.58 Mbp (NCBI Build 37) on Chr13. This interval was obtained by using an interval width of 25 Mbp around the peak marker (Build 37, MGI, http://informatics.jax.org).
Acute cocaine - A-FOS mouse vs. Littermate control
Description:
Acute cocaine - A-FOS mouse vs. Littermate control DNA microarray Change in gene expression Animals received a single injection of cocaine (30 mg / kg intraperitoneal) and the striatum harvested at 24 hours. Avadis Microarray analysis software; standard unpaired T-test. A p < 0.001 was used as a cutoff for the selection of genes. Genes are considered up or down regulated if their expression changed 1.4 fold relative to basal conditions. (NIF Table ID 334 [184])

Chronic cocaine - Cocaine vs. Saline DNA microarray increased expression 20 mg / kg / day for 7 days Pair-wise comparisons were made between all 4 conditions (WT Saline, WT Cocaine, KO Saline, KO Cocaine), which generated 4 lists of genes 1.2-fold differentially expressed with a P < 0.05. Genes that were significantly regulated by these criteria in the first duplicate study and validated directly via qPCR were included in the final lists. (NIF Table ID 36 [42])
