GeneSet Information

Tier I GS270824 • GWAS Catalog Data for body mass index, obesity in 598 French Canadian founder adolescent individuals

DESCRIPTION:

List of positional candidate genes after correcting for multiple testing and controlling the false discovery rate from genome wide association studies (GWAS) retrieved from the NHGRI-EBI Catalog of published genome-wide association studies (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/gwas/). The disease/trait examined in this study, as reported by the authors, was Obesity-related traits. The EFO term body mass index, obesity was annotated to this set after curation by NHGRI-EBI. Intergenic SNPS were mapped to both the upstream and downstream gene. P-value uploaded. This gene set was generated using gwas2gs v. 0.1.8 and the GWAS Catalog v. 1.0.1.

TITLE:

Genome-wide scan for loci of adolescent obesity and their relationship with blood pressure.

JOURNAL:

The Journal of clinical endocrinology and metabolism Jan 2012, Vol 97, pp. E145-50

ABSTRACT:

Hypertension, typically considered a disorder of adulthood, is now emerging in adolescence. This is mainly due to the growing prevalence of obesity and the fact that excess body fat increases blood pressure (BP). PUBMED: 22013104
