GeneSet Information

Tier I GS269786 • GWAS Catalog Data for Ischemic stroke in up to 8,062 European ancestry cases, up to 1,086 African ancestry cases, up to 362 Hispanic cases, 26,690 European ancestry controls, 3,354 African ancestry controls, 2,429 Hispanic controls

DESCRIPTION:

List of positional candidate genes after correcting for multiple testing and controlling the false discovery rate from genome wide association studies (GWAS) retrieved from the NHGRI-EBI Catalog of published genome-wide association studies (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/gwas/). The disease/trait examined in this study, as reported by the authors, was Ischemic stroke (undetermined subtype). The EFO term Ischemic stroke was annotated to this set after curation by NHGRI-EBI. Intergenic SNPS were mapped to both the upstream and downstream gene. P-value uploaded. This gene set was generated using gwas2gs v. 0.1.8 and the GWAS Catalog v. 1.0.1.

TITLE:

Loci associated with ischaemic stroke and its subtypes (SiGN): a genome-wide association study.

JOURNAL:

The Lancet. Neurology 12 2015, Vol None, pp. None

ABSTRACT:

The discovery of disease-associated loci through genome-wide association studies (GWAS) is the leading genetic approach to the identification of novel biological pathways underlying diseases in humans. Until recently, GWAS in ischaemic stroke have been limited by small sample sizes and have yielded few loci associated with ischaemic stroke. We did a large-scale GWAS to identify additional susceptibility genes for stroke and its subtypes. PUBMED: 26708676
