GeneSet Information

Tier I GS268909 • GWAS Catalog Data for longevity in 6,036 European ancestry cases, 3,757 European ancestry controls

DESCRIPTION:

List of positional candidate genes after correcting for multiple testing and controlling the false discovery rate from genome wide association studies (GWAS) retrieved from the NHGRI-EBI Catalog of published genome-wide association studies (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/gwas/). The disease/trait examined in this study, as reported by the authors, was Longevity (90 years and older). The EFO term longevity was annotated to this set after curation by NHGRI-EBI. Intergenic SNPS were mapped to both the upstream and downstream gene. P-value uploaded. This gene set was generated using gwas2gs v. 0.1.8 and the GWAS Catalog v. 1.0.1.

TITLE:

GWAS of longevity in CHARGE consortium confirms APOE and FOXO3 candidacy.

JOURNAL:

The journals of gerontology. Series A, Biological sciences and medical sciences Jan 2015, Vol 70, pp. 110-8

ABSTRACT:

The genetic contribution to longevity in humans has been estimated to range from 15% to 25%. Only two genes, APOE and FOXO3, have shown association with longevity in multiple independent studies. PUBMED: 25199915
