GeneSet Information

Tier I GS268194 • GWAS Catalog Data for binge eating, bipolar disorder in 206 European ancestry cases with binge eating behavior, 723 European ancestry cases without binge eating behavior

DESCRIPTION:

List of positional candidate genes after correcting for multiple testing and controlling the false discovery rate from genome wide association studies (GWAS) retrieved from the NHGRI-EBI Catalog of published genome-wide association studies (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/gwas/). The disease/trait examined in this study, as reported by the authors, was Binge eating behaviour in bipolar disorder. The EFO term binge eating, bipolar disorder was annotated to this set after curation by NHGRI-EBI. Intergenic SNPS were mapped to both the upstream and downstream gene. P-value uploaded. This gene set was generated using gwas2gs v. 0.1.8 and the GWAS Catalog v. 1.0.1.

TITLE:

Bipolar disorder with comorbid binge eating history: a genome-wide association study implicates APOB.

JOURNAL:

Journal of affective disorders Aug 2014, Vol 165, pp. 151-8

ABSTRACT:

Bipolar disorder (BD) is a highly heritable disease. While genome-wide association (GWA) studies have identified several genetic risk factors for BD, few of these studies have investigated the genetic etiology of specific disease subtypes. In particular, BD is positively associated with eating dysregulation traits such as binge eating behavior (BE), yet the genetic risk factors underlying BD with comorbid BE have not been investigated.
