Results are obtained using gene expression profiling via cDNA microarrays and gene ontology. This gene set comprises 36 genes that are corregulated within each of the five brain regions in both C3H/HeJ and C57BL/6J mice.

Study shows that some genetic components associated with the ability to quit overlap while many do not overlap. To perform the study, DNA samples were obtained from NIH volunteers and the allelic frequencies of the samples were analyzed using Affymetrix array analysis.
